Christmas Party 2015

Colette Byrne, poet, who read some of WB Yeats poetry at the lunch

Colette Bryce, award winning poet, read some of WB Yeats poetry at the lunch to commemorate 150 year anniversary of his birth.

The annual Kenya Irish Society Christmas Party was held on Saturday the 5th of December in the Muthaiga Club. It was a wonderful day, the rain held off, and over ninety adults and children had a Christmas feast of turkey, ham and and all the trimmings.

With the help of the Irish Embassy, we were delighted to have Colette Bryce, an award winning poet from Derry, who helped us celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of William Butler Yeats.

And Santa Claus even made time in his busy schedule to drop by and give some presents to all the children who have been good this year.

Kenya Irish Society: Ireland versus the Rest of the World

93 golfers in 22 teams descended on Karen Country Club on Friday, November 27th to represent their countries in the Kenya Irish Society’s “Ireland versus the Rest of the World” golf competition. The weather smiled on the organizing committee with blue skies and not a hint of the persistent rain of earlier in the week. The course was in excellent condition and Karen Club F&B put on a splendid spread of food upstairs in the cocktail lounge in the evening. KIS are extremely grateful to Pernod Ricard for their continuing support in the sponsoring of this and other events held by the society.

The main prize of the night the “Ireland versus the Rest of the World” trophy went to the Rest of the World with the trophy accepted on their behalf by the leading rest of the world team Iceland. A selection of photos from the evening is below.
