AGM date change 4th June

AGM Notification

Owing to the availability of Committee Members, the date has had to move, it is now 4th June
It is that time of year to convene the Annual General Meeting of the Kenya Irish Society and we hereby notify all members that the meeting will take place on Saturday, June 4th at 4.00p.m. at the Grounds of St. Patrick’s on James Gichuru Road. (Please advise if you are not familiar with this location and we will share more detailed directions). The agenda for the meeting is below. Drinks and some snacks will also be served. We would be grateful if you can confirm you participation at the AGM via email to Kiseventconfirmation(at) In the event that you cannot join the meeting then please advise accordingly. The committee has hosted some great events over the past year so please take the time to attend this meeting. If you may be interested in being part of the committee for the 2016-17, please do let myself or other members of the committee know as there are a number of departures from the current committee including the Chairperson.

  3. Chair’s report
  4. Financial report and approval of the accounts
  5. Current Bank Accounts & Signatories
  6. Appointment of auditors in accordance with Rule 12 (a)
  7. KIS – the Way Forward
  8. Such other matters as the committee may decide or as to which notice shall have been given in writing by a full member or full members to the Secretary at least 14 days before the date of the meeting.
  9. Election of Office Bearers and Committee Members for 2015/2016
  10. Any other business with the approval of the Chairperson.


  1. The quorum for any General Meeting of the Society shall not be less than twenty of the registered paid up full members and Honourable Life Members of the Society (Rule 9 (e)

Ireland vs ROW Golf (Update 12/10)

The annual Ireland vs Rest of the World Golf event will be held at Karen Country Club on Friday 27th November. Golfers, please organize your teams of four. There will be a dinner afterwards at the Club, so non-golfers will be welcome. Contact  kenyairishsociety(at) if you are interested.

Rugby World Cup

The Rugby World Cup is nearly here – for those wanting to watch the in a pub, Kengeles in Lavington Green will be showing all the games, including the Irish ones. Some of the committee are planning to be there. Match times for the Irish in the qualifying stages are

Sunday,  October 4th  18.45 vs Italy

Sunday, October 11th, 18.45 vs France

Note that this is not a KIS event.

All Ireland Football Final 20/9/15

Venue Curragh Pub, Ngong Racecourse

For those of you who want to watch the All Ireland Football Final between Kerry and Dublin, it is being shown in the Curragh Pub at the Ngong Racecourse, on Sunday 20th September, Throw in is at 17:30 Nairobi time.

Note that this is not a Society Event.

Quiz Night 2015 (updated 1/11)

Please book your table by Friday November 5th so we can get a good estimate of numbers in time.


Our annual quiz will take place at the Goan Gymkhana on Saturday, November 14th so please get a quiz team together and join us for a fun night out. Gerry Cunningham and Lesley Mullan will be leading the quiz masters on the night.

Quiz team are made up of 8-10 members so please get your teams together and confirm your participation via email to noelle2020(at)

Tickets for the night including a great curry buffet dinner are 1250KSH will be served during the break. Payment per team should be made in advance via mpesa to the KIS till number 89665 – go to the buy goods option and follow instructions – please collect the money from your individual team members and make one payment.
